This is a handmade Wooden Jo Staff. The Jo Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. Its diameter is a constant 1 inch through out its length.
Length 54"
The materials consist of High quality southern Hickory. Hickory is the hardest available north american wood, and has a great sturdy feel. The hickory prevents this jo staff from having any wobble upon performing techniques. This staff may or may not be laminated depending on availability.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil and sanded to a fine finish, which gives it a permanent shine and and amazing feel in the which allows the hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff.
We ship UPS Ground. Tracking is included. For multiple staffs we combine shipping costs in one package.
Hickory can come in lighter tan sapwood colors, light brown or darker brown heartwood, or sometimes a mixture of both dark and light on the same stick called 'calico hickory'. These variations are aesthetic only and do not affect the integrity of the wood at all. No two are exactly alike and your jo staff you receive will be unique. The pictures are taken of previously created staffs and are intended to show the variations possible in hickory.
Thanks!
