Solid Ipe Bo Staff 72" inch length 1" Width Exotic Heavy Wood (Please see description for this finished staff. Very small wormhole)
This is a handmade solid Ipe Bo Staff. Ipe is very hard exotic heavy wood. The Hanbo Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. The traditional length for a full length bo staff is 72". Its diameter is 1 inch through out its length.
Ipe is twice as hard as common American Hickory. It is one of the hardest woods in the world. It has an amazing smooth sturdy feel. It has a beautiful heavy dark brown color.
It is sanded smooth and finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which gives it a permanent shine and protective layer while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff, which is required for proper technique.
These staffs give a heavier and smoother feel then other 1" full size bo staffs. 1" bo staffs are intended for speed during solo use and kata. This staff still gives still some resistance due to the weight and has the smooth silky feel of ipe.
*Details of this finished staff: This particular staff has a very tiny wormhole. It is in the very center of the staff and in no way impacts performance or strength. This staff is above average weight for ipe. Its weight is 2lbs and 7 ounces. The wormhole goes through the wood. You can see it in both pictures and it is located about 9 inches from the end of the staff. Otherwise it is perfect and the grain is excellent. This staff is appropriate for all uses. Because of the small imperfection. I have reduced the price by 5$ to 120.
