This listing is for a Purpleheart Wooden Bo Staff. This is an upgrade to a common bamboo or rattan staff. The Bo Staff is a traditional Okinawan wooden self defense weapon used in Kobudo style martial arts. These particular staffs are 72inches in length. These staffs have a constant diameter of 1" throughout its length.
The materials consist of laminated purpleheart wood which is one of the most beautiful exotic woods. Its hardness is comparable to hickory and has a beautiful natural dark purple color. Lamination increases the strength of the staff.
*In addition, these particular staffs are made from curly or flamed, or tiger striped purpleheart, which has a holographic curly pattern in the wood which is shown in the pictures, making these staffs particularly beautiful and rare. These are shown in the picures. The pictures are generic and may not match the exact staff you receive, and are generic in nature for that particular curly wood. Some sections of each staff will have more or less of the pattern shown.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which causes the purpleheart to have a rich dark purple color. The oil gives it a permanent shine while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff, which is required for proper technique.
