This is a handmade heavy Wooden Jo Staff. The Jo Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. These staffs are 1,1/8 inches in thickness and come in lengths from 52"
The staff thickness functions excellently as both a wilderness walking stick, due to its weight but is also not too heavy to use for martial arts purposes as a slightly heavier then average jo staff which is typically only 1".
The materials consist of solid Hickory. Hickory is the hardest available north American wood, and has a great sturdy feel. The hickory prevents this jo from having any wobble upon performing techniques.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil and sanded to a fine finish, which gives it a permanent shine and and amazing feel in the which allows the hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff.
