This is a handmade Wooden Jo Staff. The Jo Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. Its diameter is a constant 1 inch through out its length.
These Jo staffs are 48 inches in length.
The materials consist of High quality southern Hickory. Hickory is the hardest available north american wood, and has a great sturdy feel. The hickory prevents this bo from having any wobble upon performing techniques.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil and sanded to a fine finish, which gives it a permanent shine and and amazing feel in the which allows the hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff.
*These two staffs are both on the heavy side for hickory, making them excellent for all heavy uses. The staffs both have an unusual marking from being inside the tree near a small branch or twig. They are dark lines at one end. These dark spots do NOT affect the integrity or the strength of the staff in any way. They are asthetic only and are completely hard. Never the less I have reduced the price 5 dollars from 67 to 62. There are also a few other small dark inconsequential pinknots in the staff as shown in the pictures. The pictures of the flaws are shown in an unfinished state.
