This is a handmade Wooden Jo Staff. The Jo Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. Its diameter is a constant 15/16 inch throughout its length. Its length is 51" which is the traditional Aikido length.
This is slightly thinner than a 1" staff. It is best suited for someone who doesn't need a contact staff and likes a slightly thinner feel for a jo staff, but with a solid weight. 1lb 4oz
The materials consist of High-quality southern Hickory. Hickory is the hardest available north American wood and has a great sturdy feel. The hickory prevents this jo from having any wobble upon performing techniques.
*This particular staff is discounted due to the non-straight grain. it is made of laminated heavy hickory hardwood. Not recommended for contact.
Please note the pictures are generic. This staff has a medium light brown color throughout with some dark asthetic streaks.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil and sanded to a fine finish, which gives it a permanent shine and amazing feel in the which allows the hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff.
