This is an upgrade to a common bamboo or rattan staff. The Bo Staff is a traditional Okinawan wooden training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. These particular staffs are 72 inches in length. These staffs have a center diameter of 1, 1\/4\" at the center.  This staff tapers to about 15\/16 inches at the tips. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eTapering means that the end of the staffs have been gradually thinned. Tapering greatly increases rotational speed while still still maintaining the staff's strength for all uses. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe materials consist of purpleheart wood which is one of the most beautiful exotic woods. Its hardness is comparable to hickory and has a beautiful natural dark purple color. These staffs may or may not be laminated depending on best wood selection and availability. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cbr\u003e\u003cbr\u003eIt is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which causes the purpleheart to have a rich dark purple color.
