This listing is for a Purpleheart Wooden Jo Staff. This is an upgrade to a common bamboo or rattan staff. The Jo Staff is a traditional Okinawan wooden self defense weapon used in Kobudo style martial arts. This particular staff is 47 inches in length. These staffs have a constant diameter of 1,1/8" throughout its length. 1,1/8 gives it a heavy feel which can still be used with some speed, while retaining plenty of strength.
The materials consist of purpleheart wood which is one of the most beautiful exotic woods. Its hardness is comparable to hickory and has a beautiful natural dark purple color. it is made out of solid Purpleheart wood.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which causes the purpleheart to have a rich dark purple color. The oil gives it a permanent shine while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff, which is required for proper technique.
