These are handmade Wooden Bo Staffs. The Bo Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. These are 72" in length. This particular staff is 1 1/8" in diameter throughout its entire length which is an excellent thickness for an all around untapered bo staff. It still has good maneuverability but is also thick enough to have excellent durability for all uses.
These staffs are appropriate for karate or Hiking. For hiking, these staffs offer all the strength you will need to feel safe, while not being as heavy as a full size 1,1/4 Quarterstaff to carry for long hikes. These staffs are untapered, so the grip feels very natural and easy to hold while on the trail or in the woods, while still having plenty of both speed and strength for all uses. The same characteristics make these excellent for karate or other exercise applications as well.
The materials consist of Tennessee shagbark hickory, which is among the strongest of the hickory varieties. Hickory is the hardest available North American Hardwoods. These staffs may or may not be laminated, depending on wood available and out of considerations for using the best available wood for these staffs.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil and sanded to a fine finish, which gives it a permanent shine and amazing feel in the which allows the hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff.
