These are handmade Heavy Hickory Purpleheart laminated Wooden Jo Staffs. The Jo Staff is a traditional Martial Arts Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts.
Not all sizes will be available at all times, so please check the variations to see what is in stock. These Jos have a constant diameter of 1,14" throughout their length. For different widths of 1,1/4" or 1" Please check our other listings.
These Extra heavy staffs are suitable for all dojo uses. The standard size for jo staffs is 1", so these are for someone desiring a heavier staff.
The materials consist of Hickory and Purpleheart. Hickory is one of the hardest and most durable North American woods. There is a thin purpleheart strip down the center for extra beauty and strength.
These staffs also function as a wonderful hiking stick.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil and sanded to a fine finish, which gives it a permanent shine and amazing feel in the which allows the hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff.
