*This listing is for heavily Discounted (Half price) Purpleheart Jo staffs. I have several staffs with minute hairline fractures in the wood, making these not suitable for contact use. These cracks are barely visible. And can barely be felt. With some sanding they can practically disappear. These staffs have all been tested for bending strength, and are fully capable of easily holding someone's weight. I do not suggest them for extreme use, but they will serve well as a hiking stick or a beautiful practice jo staff. I am selling these as is. They have all been sanded, but I have not added a finish. The reason is I suggest that if you want to use these for karate or hiking, that one puts a building finish on it, such as a varnish, which would completely cover the miniscule cracks to the point that they could be sealed and not be felt.
The materials consist of purpleheart wood which is one of the most beautiful woods. Its hardness is comparable to hickory and has a natural dark purple color. These staffs may either be made from solid hardwood construction or laminated construction, depending on the availability of wood and wood quality.
The pictures are generic, and your staff will be unique. The last picture is shown of purpleheart in its unoiled state to show the natural color of the wood.
