The Ni Tanbo are also known as Kali Sticks, Escrima Sticks or short sticks and are used as a training tool in the Philippines, otherwise known as Arnis. This is an upgrade from common Rattan sticks. Each has a diameter of 1,1/8" inch or 1,1/4"
These sticks come in various lengths. This listing is for Single Sticks only, Single sticks will NOT match in weight with other single sticks. If you need matching weight sticks, please make sure you order a pair set, please see our listing for Extra Heavy Hickory Escrima Stick Pairs.
The materials consist of 100% Hickory which is one of the hardest and most durable North American woods. This wood is cherished for its impact qualities. These sticks are recommended for someone who wants maximum resistance during technique and also wants to build up muscles for weight training using fully functional kali sticks.
These sticks may be solid wood or laminated, depending on wood availability. For more information on laminated vs solid wood please read my FAQ for more information.
Hickory can come in several shades of tan or brown and sometimes a mixture of both dark and light on the same stick. These variations are aesthetic only and do not affect the integrity of the wood at all.
*Staffs labeled as discounted do not have straight grain or some other aesthetic feature. These staffs are not recommended for contact purposes.
*I have chosen a variety of pictures showing different color variations in our Hickory Tanbo
It is finished with several coats of linseed and beeswax oil, which adds beauty protection and allows the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the stick, which is required for proper technique.
