This is a handmade Wooden Jo Staff, and it is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. Its diameter is a constant 15/16 inch throughout its length.
This Jo Staff is 47" and is a thinner width of 15/16. Its weight is 1.2lbs, and is made from heavier than average for a solid hickory wood style staff. I do not recommend 15/16 width staffs for contact. This staff would be good for someone with thinner hands or someone who wants a very sturdy staff but with more speed than a standard 1" contact staff.
The materials consist of High-quality southern Hickory. Hickory is the hardest available north American wood and has a great sturdy feel. The hickory prevents this jo from having any wobble upon performing techniques.
It is finished with several coats of linseed and beeswax oil and sanded to a fine finish, which gives it a permanent shine and amazing feel in the which allows the hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff.
