This is a handmade solid Ipe Bo Staff. Ipe is very hard exotic heavy wood. The Hanbo Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. The traditional length for a full-length bo staff is 72". Its diameter is 1 inch throughout its length.
Ipe is twice as hard as common American Hickory. It is one of the hardest woods in the world. It has an amazing smooth sturdy feel and has a beautiful dark brown color.
It is sanded smooth and finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which gives it a permanent shine and protective layer while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff, which is required for proper technique.
