This listing is for solid Ipe Hanbo Staffs. The Hanbo Staff, Half Staff or Short Staff is a traditional Okinawan training tool used in Kobudo style martial arts. Ipe is very hard wood, making these Hanbo have a very heavy feel. The traditional length for a Hanbo staff is 36". This listing has several lengths available. Including 42" which is a cross between the feel of a jo staff and a Hanbo. All the staffs here have a constant diameter of 1 inch.
Ipe is twice as hard as Hickory, making it able to resist denting. It is one of the hardest woods in the world. It has an amazing smooth sturdy feel and beautiful heavy dark brown color.
Each is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil and sanded to a fine finish, which gives it a permanent shine and and amazing feel in the which allows the hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff.
