This listing is Purpleheart Escrima stick pairs also known as Tanbo Sticks, Ni Tanbo or kali sticks. Theses short sticks are used as a training tool in the Philippines, otherwise known as Arnis. This is an upgrade from common Rattan sticks. Each has a diameter of 15/16" inch are made in a rounded design. These are slightly thinner and faster then 1" Escrima sticks.
These sticks come in various lengths and come in pairs with matching weight and density.
These sticks are made out of solid hardwood.
Purpleheart is an excellent all-around wood similar in density to hickory and is recommended for tournaments because of the eye-catching color and overall reasonable weight. Purpleheart like all woods can vary in weight. Weights that are of a medium or lighter variety will be explicitly stated.
*For the staffs labeled discounted, these staffs are all heavy, but they have sections of either wavy grain, or some other type of discoloration. . These staffs will often have more interesting patterns on the wood. These staffs are not recommended for contact or partner training.
*Staffs labeled as lightweight are lighter than average purpleheart. These sticks are best for speed applications or tournament use and are not intended for contact.
It is finished with several coats of Linseed and Beeswax oil, which adds beauty protection and allows the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the stick, which is required for proper technique.
