This listing is for thin width Purpleheart Bo Staffs. The Bo Staff is a traditional Okinawan wooden training tool used in many Kobudo style martial arts systems. These particular staffs range 60" to 72".
The materials consist of heavy Purpleheart wood which is one of the most beautiful exotic woods. Its hardness is comparable to hickory and has a beautiful natural dark purple color.
15/16" Staffs are great for someone who wants more speed or who has smaller width hands. These staffs may have some slight whip when use for technique do to the thinner size. 15/16" staffs are not recommended for contact use. For contact staffs please see our 1,1/8 or 1,1/4" thick purpleheart or Hickory Staffs.
The pictures shown are generic in nature and each staff is unique. The staffs are shown in both their oiled and unoiled form, to show the beautiful natural color of Purpleheart; when oiled, Purpleheart takes on a dark purple color.
These staffs are made from solid hardwood construction.
Each is finished with several coats of linseed and beeswax oil, which causes the purpleheart to have a rich dark purple color. The oil gives it a permanent shine while allowing the users hands to slip effortlessly up and down the staff, which is required for proper technique.
